GB SURF SCHOOL Beaches

Surf School

Welcome to the Surfing for Schools page. This Surf and Learn package is Unique to The GB Surf School.

What's included?

1. Surf sessions with all equipment and transport to and from the beach facilitated by our British Surfing Association registered Surf Instructors who are also RLSS Lifeguards and cleared by the Criminal Records Bureau.

2. A GB Surf School Instructor will do a surf workshop which covers everything from:
i) how waves are formed
ii) how to read weather charts
iii) safety in the water and surf etiquette
iv) how to spot rips
v) how to purchase the best type of equipment for the different levels of surfer.

3. A BSA log book to record the surfing level attained - the instructors will assess this weekly.

4. A BSA certificate to suit the appropriate proficiency attained.

5. (This option must be pre-booked at a cost of £90, payable directly to Surfers Against Sewage) An environmental workshop hosted at the school by Surfers Against Sewage. The SAS talks have proven to be both interactive and informative for all ages. The talks inform the audience on a broad range of issues including water quality, chemicals in the water course, the hazards of shipping to our coast, climate change, marine litter and much more. As with all of SAS's campaigns they identify the problems, back up their concerns with science and then promote the sustainable achievable solutions.

How does it work?: An ideal scenario is for us to work with groups of maximum 8 (if the group are 11 years old or younger) or 10 pupils (12 years old and up) per Instructor. This way each class is small [and safe] and we can transport 6 children per van and Instructor (four available) at any one time.

We would need them to be accompanied by 1 extra adult per 8 children - this could be a teacher or a parent. If this is not possible we can help organise other cover from GB Surf School staff.

Dates: After school from mid-March up until the summer holidays and the first half of the Autumn term. You choose which day.

Times: 3.30 - 6.30

Prices: £15 per session, dropping to £12 if all the term's sessions are prepaid. As we are Ofsted registered, 80% of the cost of these sessions is reclaimable via Child Tax Credits. We do offer flexible payment terms.

How many sessions: It depends on which day the School starts but the average number is twelve in the summer and six in the winter.

Yes, we'd like to take this offer up. What do we do?

Call Chris, Steve or Ed at the GB Surf School on 01736 711289 to discuss your requirements, get your provisional dates in the diary or to arrange an appropriate time for our Head Coach to come and meet with you.

The Parental Release Forms will be sent out along with a cover flyer and some posters.

Promote the offer within school and collect all the names together on the Parental Release Forms.

Once the names are together, re-contact the office and the places will be confirmed.

On confirmation, the parents will be called by us to make full payment by card over the phone or set up a weekly Direct Debit and their dates confirmed individually.
