Cornwall has been the home of British surfing since the 1960s. The county is highly accessible from a number of major cities with direct trains from London and Birmingham combining other major rail links on its route. We recommend the train which is obviously a relaxing, low impact option but there are also flights available from Bristol, Belfast City, Cardiff, Durham Tees Valley, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds/Bradford, London Gatwick, Luton and Stansted, Manchester, Newcastle, Isles of Scilly, Isle of Man, Dublin, Cork, Dusseldorf, Geneva, Grenoble, St. Brieuc, Chambery, Barcelona & Alicante.

With its world class Atlantic coastline and waves of all sizes year round, combined with striking sunsets and long, sandy beaches with nothing but the sound of the blue sea breaking on the shore, Cornwall has fantastic beaches and surf for learning and progressing. With an average annual temperature of 14 degrees celcius and our Rip Curl wetsuits, you will experience some of the best surfing in Europe.
The parts of Cornwall which you will experience uniquely with Global Boarders have it all: beauty, space, peace, privacy, awesome food and great shopping which is highly focused on top quality surf goods and, with the strong influence of the artist colony at St. Ives, interesting and collectable art and ceramics.
A trip to Cornwall is ideal for surfers of all abilities, including first-timers who can take advantage of the long, gradual, sandy shelves into the sea as opposed to the rocky shore dumps offered at other UK and European 'Learner' beaches. It is perfect for those wishing to enjoy great waves and expert guiding in the hands of the Global Boarders team where you'll be guided to and from the best beaches and coached by a Global Boarders fully qualified British Surfing Association instructor who guarantees to have beginners up and riding by the end of their stay and progressors pushing the boundaries of their surfing capabilities. For progressors there is also a chance for some video analysis and surf theory workshops including wave prediction/wave data reading.
For families we provide everything that you might expect in practical terms plus registered & qualified child minders who will look after your children in the safety of your accommodation or accompany you to the beach during the day. They are also available to babysit during the evenings. All of our staff have been screened and cleared by The Criminal Records Bureau.
We pride ourselves on our range of accommodation, some of which is owned by Global Boarders and some hired. Each property is hand picked by us and we strive to have something to suit the requirements of each guest. They are all high quality and in the very best locations - where possible within walking distance to quality shops and restaurants. We are in the continual process of making our own properites as environmentally friendly as possible but with all of the up-to-date modern conveniences.
The cuisine is local and organic where feasible - breakfasts, lunches and dinner reservations of your choice can be arranged. With this service you'll be able to sample some of the best food which the South West has to offer.

Lastly, we would say that if you are looking for a vacation where the emphasis is on budget 'Newquay style' partying as opposed to surfing, this is not the trip for you. Whilst we make every effort to make every one of our vacations a fun and exciting experience we also respect the local traditions and customs of wherever we surf. We will greet you at either Newquay Airport [by special arrangement] or Penzance Railway or Coach stations and transfer you to your quality accommodation.
Begin with a leisurely, self-service breakfast where you can feast on pain au chocolat, toast and cereal, organic preserves with lashings of juice and Fairtrade tea and coffee.
At apx. 10am you will be picked up and taken to the beach by your dedicated Global Boarders surf instructor who will have already checked which beach has the best conditions. Onboard he or she will have your boards and suits [although intermediate and advanced surfers are more than welcome to bring their own equipment by prior arrangement]. At the beach we will provide safe storage for your property, and then you'll then receive 2 hours coaching before a quick break and 1further hour of coaching. We will then get changed and take lunch at a nearby cafe. Travelling and from the beaches takes you through the varied landscapes of Cornwall from the rugged, rural beauty of Zennor to the dramatic cliff drops around Sennen and Lands End.
Many of the beaches have their own excellent cafes and bars for more essential sugar breaks! Time to relax, refresh and contemplate your progress while feasting on great food.
You can walk to or we can help you organise transfers* to and from a specially selected restaurants where we guarantee the menus and locations are the best which West Cornwall has to offer. After dinner you can stroll through the villages or town to one of the local bars where you can have a quiet drink, catch a band, boogie at a local club or you can return to base, to relax and contemplate your progress.

After breakfast on the day of your departure we'll transfer you to back to your point of arrival. All guests will receive a Global Boarders / BSA diploma [subject to criteria being met], happy memories, maybe a suntan and definitely a smile.
