A two mile stretch of beach, located four miles north of Newquay on the north Cornish coast. Watergate is one of Cornwall's most famous beaches with a wide expanse of clean water and a large sandy beach.
It is worth going a little further on beyond the crowds where the beach is much quieter and the water less crowded. However, be aware that you can get cut off at high tide, so be alert.
Ample parking and toilets at the beach. Fresh water showers.
The beach is patrolled by lifeguards during the holiday season, with areas designated for bathing. This is a big beach with sand bars, tidal pools and rip currents, and only the middle of the beach is patrolled.
